The client engaged EMC to perform a Drill-to-Mill integration and optimization project at Pustynnoye open pit gold mine, Kazakhstan. The project involved developing and ore characterization program, Drill&Blast audit and optimization, processing plant survey and optimization, and advanced Drill-to-Mill modelling and simulations. Using our site-specific models in consultation with site personnel, EMC was able to recommend and validate the optimized strategies. Optimization strategies were rapidly identified and implemented considering mine and plant constraints. The plant achieved an increase of mill throughput by 21% in one year time and a reduction of mill specific energy by 26%. At the end of project time, mill throughput increased by 36%.
